Abstract
Purpose: The Purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the knee position sense training through closed and open kinetic chain of four week on the elderly's proprioception and balance ability.

Methods: The subjects of this study were 30 elderly people with an average age of 77, divided into the CKC(Close Kinetic Chain)group (n = 15) and the OKC(Open Kinetic Chain)group (n = 15). The two groups exercised their position sense training in closed chain and open chain environment three times a week, once a day for 4 weeks. All subjects were assessed by pre and post exercise knee proprioceptive sense and balance ability tests.

Results: The effect of the results exercise was significant in both the proprioceptive sense and the balance ability tests in the CKC group and only in the Side hops test in the OKC group.

Conclusion: It is concluded that knee position training through closed chains is a useful exercise program that affects the improvement of the elderly's inherent proprioception.
